Nou Mestalla enters new phase of construction
The Nou Mestalla has entered a new stage of construction after the successful installation of the 50 S355 steel columns and the compression ring that will support the stadium’s vast roof structure, marking another step towards the completion of Valencia’s new home.
Now that the installation of the compression ring has now been completed, the radial cables that will support the roof itself are currently being installed.
The fifty columns, each standing 38 metres tall and weighing more than 30 tonnes, were constructed under the supervision of FCC Construcción and, since December, have been transported from Horta Coslada’s facility in Arteixo, Galicia.
Over the past few weeks, the assembly of the auxiliary scaffolding needed for the installation of the tension-ring cables has been completed. Significant progress has also been made on the protective systems around the seating bowl in preparation for the deployment of the radial roof-support cables.
Meanwhile, construction has continued on the stadium façade, the stair towers, and several interior sections of the building.
The Nou Mestalla is set to become Spain’s most sustainable and technologically advanced football stadium
