Daktronics have upgraded the video display and control system at the University of Texas, El Paso’s (UTEP) Sun Bowl Stadium. The display improved resolution 4.5 times the previous screen using the Daktronics Renew product line, adding to the visual game-day experience for Miners fans.

“We’re grateful for our continued partnership with Daktronics, and we’re excited about the recent enhancements that have been made to the Sun Bowl video board,” UTEP Vice President and Director of Athletics Jim Senter said. “This comes at an opportune time as we launch a thrilling new era in the Mountain West Conference and are introducing numerous initiatives designed to improve the fan experience.”

Video Display Details

While the physical display dimensions remain the same at 33.5 feet high by 60 feet wide, the resolution improves with a new 10-millimeter pixel spacing compared to the previous 15HD pixel layout. This brings 50% more LEDs spaced closer together, creating 4.5 times the resolution to deliver greater image clarity and contrast to Miners fans.

The display is capable of variable content zoning so it can show one large image or multiple zones of content to meet the needs of UTEP Athletics at every event. This includes any mix of video, replays, statistics and game information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.
