The Medlock Hotel Opens at Etihad Stadium
The Medlock, a Radisson Blu Hotel, has officially opened its doors, marking a major milestone for Medlock Square, Manchester’s rapidly growing entertainment destination.
Set just steps from the Etihad Stadium and Co-op Live, the 401-room hotel has been developed in partnership with Radisson Hotel Group and is operated by Valor Hospitality Partners. It brings a striking blend of modern British design, culinary distinction and dynamic hospitality to East Manchester, taking its name from the River Medlock, which flows beneath the Etihad Campus.
The hotel’s design balances Manchester’s industrial heritage with biophilic touches, nodding to the 19th century gasworks, green spaces and waterways that once defined the site. Guests are welcomed into an immersive lobby with an overhead digital reflective feature that syncs its lighting to match days and event nights next door.
The 401 guest rooms, with rates starting from £120, are designed as calm retreats featuring warm timber, tactile upholstery and music inspired detailing, from rug patterns echoing retro audio equipment to bathroom tiles reminiscent of recording studio walls. Every room comes with GRIND coffee machines, bespoke artwork from local artists and signature Vimto bonbons, with yoga mats in deluxe rooms and bespoke Medlock mattresses created with Silentnight.
The crown jewel of the property is a striking two storey Penthouse Suite, complete with two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a private rooftop garden and views across to Co-op Live, along with dedicated VIP access for high profile stays and celebrations.
Guests can also make use of the 24 hour Technogym fitness centre, complete with virtual personal training, before heading down to the hotel’s two culinary concepts: Blend, a café by day and wine bar by night, and Three Rivers Brasserie and Bar, an all day dining experience celebrating British produce, overseen by Medlock Square’s Head of Bars, Cressida Lawlor, and Development Chef and MasterChef winner, Dan Merriman.
Richard Pearson, General Manager of The Medlock, Radisson Blu Hotel, said: “We’re incredibly proud to officially open the doors to The Medlock, as it takes centre stage as the beginning of the story of Medlock Square. We’ve created a hotel that feels uniquely Manchester, right at the heart of one of the UK’s most exciting destinations.”
The Medlock also offers versatile, natural light filled spaces for business gatherings, brand launches and private functions, serving as the new on campus accommodation partner for residential conferencing at Medlock Square.
