Martyn’s Law – formally known as the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill – is set to come into effect in 2026, introducing a legal duty for venue operators to improve public safety through preparedness and protective security measures. Named in memory of Martyn Hett, who tragically lost his life in the 2017 Manchester Arena attack, the legislation brings new obligations for venues to assess risk, plan for emergencies, train staff and communicate effectively during critical situations.
