The first renderings for the redevelopment of Napoli’s Stadio Diego Armando Maradona have been revealed publicly for the first time, following a meeting at Naples’ City Council.
The overarching aim for the project is to have the works complete in time for the stadium to host matches at UEFA Euro 2032, with Italy schedule to host the tournament alongside Turkey. At present, the ground does not meet the necessary UEFA requirements to host matches at a major international championships, hence the need for renovation.
From the Giunta Hall of Palazzo San Giacomo, it was the Councillor for Infrastructure, Edoardo Cosenza, who illustrated to the representatives of the FIGC, connected remotely, the update of Stadio Maradona’s progress.
“We presented the progress of the project for the new Maradona. In particular the project of the entire internal arrangement with the new first ring close to the field. The project is completely made in BIM mode, which allows great precision and flexibility. In the images the current non-symmetrical position of the field and the new one, centered, with the stands close together: structural sections and views that perfectly respect the future visibility resulting from the project. All seats meet UEFA visibility requirements,” said Councillor Cosenza.
Hospitality services at the stadium are slated to be upgraded, with UEFA also having specific guidelines when it comes to VIP areas in stadiums for its major competitions.
