Wrexham AFC to begin rail seating installation at STōK Cae Ras

Wrexham AFC will begin the installation of rail seating at its stadium, STōK Cae Ras, following the EFL Championship fixture against Leicester City on Tuesday January 20.

The development, initially announced in May 2025, will see rail seating installed in the Upper Tier of the STōK Cold Brew Coffee Stand, allowing for supporters to stand safely in line with current stadium regulations.

The project has been developed in consultation with the Club’s Safety Advisory Group (SAG), which includes representatives from the local authority, emergency services and other key stakeholders.

STōK Cae Ras is currently undergoing a wider renovation project, with a complete rebuild of the Kop Stand being on track for completion by the 2026/27 season.

This will increase capacity to just over 18,000 and enable the STōK Cae Ras to achieve UEFA Category 4 compliance.

"We have designed the new Kop Stand to be both authentic and unique in its approach to hosting Wrexham’s passionate fans. The groundbreaking is a key moment for this landmark project and we are proud to be working with the club and with McLaren and the wider project team to bring this iconic design to life," said Populous Global Director and Senior Partner, Declan Sharkey.

AS ROMA: TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE NEW STADIUM DELIVERED

AS Roma has announced that the PFTE (Technical and Economic Feasibility Study) for the New Stadium has been delivered, a crucial step that brings the Club closer to implementing one of the most ambitious and modern sports infrastructures in Europe.

The submitted project, which precedes the final design phase, represents the result of in-depth work carried out with technical precision, attention to sustainability, and a clear vision: to offer the city of Rome and its fans a facility worthy of their history, passion, and future.

The new stadium will feature:

  • A monumental Curva Sud, the largest in Europe, designed as the beating heart of the stadium and a symbol of Romanista passion.
  • Iconic architecture inspired by Roman tradition, with contemporary lines and a strong connection to the local territory.
  • Modern, multifunctional spaces designed to experience AS Roma beyond matchdays.
  • Targeted initiatives to improve mobility, services, environmental sustainability, and urban integration, with the goal of creating a sports and social hub of reference for the Capital.

"[The Club] wishes to extend a special and personal thanks to Mayor Roberto Gualtieri for his support, availability, and constant collaboration, which have made this crucial step possible," said AS Roma in a statement.

The importance of the project, in terms of its scale, the modernity of the stadium, its potential urban impact and the planned timeline has allowed the Pietralata stadium to be included among the potential venues designated to host UEFA Euro 2032.

The project to construct a new stadium for the Italian club was announced by Populous in July 2024, with Roma set to move away from the iconic Stadio Olimpico once construction is completed on its new home.

Daktronics installs Video Display at Pioneer Field, University of Denver

Daktronics of Brookings, South Dakota, has partnered with the University of Denver (DU) to design, manufacture and install two LED video displays in Denver, Colorado, one at Pioneer Field for soccer and another at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium for lacrosse.

The installation of these displays was completed over the summer and each is currently lighting up Pioneer soccer, lacrosse and other university events.

“I’d like to thank Daktronics for their continued partnership. Their industry-leading digital assets have been an enhancement to the game-day experience at the University of Denver,” Denver Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Ritchie Center Operations Josh Berlo, said.

“The replacement of the lacrosse video board this spring brought an improved video experience and score display to our loyal fans at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. The AMG National Trust Videoboard out at soccer gives us a new tool to showcase our elite men’s and women’s soccer programs, as we move into the highly competitive West Coast Conference next fall. Overall, the team at Daktronics was thorough and professional in the two projects and went above and beyond to make both displays something our university is proud of.”

Both video displays measure approximately 18 feet high by 33 feet wide and each features a 10-millimeter pixel spacing to deliver vibrant, crisp imagery to fans at each venue. The displays feature industry-leading environmental protection, ensuring each operates as expected in the mile-high weather.

These displays are capable of variable content zoning, meaning each can share one large image or multiple zones of content to meet the needs of every event. This includes live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics and game information, graphics and animation, and sponsorship messages.

“Daktronics is proud to support the University of Denver’s commitment to excellence,” said Eric Cain, Daktronics sales representative. “These new video boards for soccer and lacrosse will elevate the student-athlete environment, strengthen game presentation and create a more immersive experience for fans. Our aim is to deliver technology that reflects DU’s championship standards and enhances the atmosphere for every Pioneer who steps onto the field or into the stands.”

Daktronics is also including a complete Show Control solution. This industry-leading control system provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a powerful yet user-friendly production solution.

Daktronics and Grass Valley Announce Industry-First Show Control API Integration

Daktronics of Brookings, South Dakota, and Grass Valley, a global leader in live production solutions, announce a significant new milestone in their ongoing strategic partnership. Together, the companies are developing a next-generation, deeply integrated workflow that allows Grass Valley production switchers and control systems to natively access and interact with the Daktronics Show Control API, setting a new industry benchmark for unified venue production.

This advancement builds on the strategic alliance announced earlier this year, extending the collaboration into a powerful technical integration that goes far beyond the simple, industry-standard triggers commonly used in the market today. Grass Valley and Daktronics are co-engineering an advanced communication layer designed to create a rich, two-way exchange between Grass Valley switchers and the Daktronics Display Studio environment. The result will be a seamless, intelligent connection that improves coordination between control room and display operations while giving production teams the ability to tailor workflows to the specific needs of each event.

As part of this integration, Grass Valley switchers will be able to understand and interact with the full structure of the Daktronics Show Control and Display Studio workspace. This includes reading all available workspaces, pages, containers, tabs and button hierarchies, along with retrieving detailed button definitions and associated metadata. Operators will also have the ability to remotely control or trigger playback elements in the Daktronics system directly from Grass Valley interfaces.

The integration will support a wide range of Display Studio attributes, including button IDs and names, audio indicators that identify content containing sound, foreground and background colors, and the X/Y coordinates of elements within the Display Studio user interface. By making this information available natively, Grass Valley systems can automatically populate macros, configuration menus and operator displays with clear, contextual data, greatly reducing setup time, minimizing operator error and providing unprecedented visibility into display system operations.

“This collaboration represents an industry milestone,” said Greg Huttie, VP of switchers at Grass Valley. “By tightly integrating our switchers with Daktronics Show Control, we’re giving venues a unified and intelligent workflow that elevates timing, precision and creative control in ways the industry has never seen before.”

“This integration gives our customers a dramatically more efficient and connected workflow,” said Greg Fleischbein, product manager at Daktronics. “Grass Valley switchers will interact directly with the full structure of Display Studio, giving production teams clearer insight, faster setup and more confidence during every moment of a live event.”

Grass Valley and Daktronics share a long-term commitment to enhancing the in-venue production experience. This new API-level integration marks a major step forward in providing customers with more engaging presentations, more reliable operations, and more efficient end-to-end production workflows, further solidifying the innovative foundation established under the companies’ strategic partnership.
