Belgian FA partner with Signify's Philips Hue
The Royal Belgian Football Association have announced a partnership with Philips Hue, Signify’s leading smart lighting brand.
As part of this collaboration, Philips Hue will equip both the training environment in Belgium and the accommodation facilities of the Belgian Red Devils during the World Cup in the United States with smart lighting designed to support the players’ natural rhythm. Through personalised lighting scenes tailored to performance, recovery and sleep quality, Philips Hue helps create an optimal environment for the Belgian national team to perform at the highest level.
“At this elite level, everything comes down to the details. Smart lighting that actively supports our players’ sleep cycle and well-being is therefore a valuable addition to the players’ daily support,” explains Steven Probst, Health & Performance Manager of the Belgian Red Devils.
PERFORMANCE DOWN TO THE SMALLEST MARGINS
Appropriate lighting has a direct impact on how people feel, recover and perform. That is why the RBFA has deliberately chosen smart lighting that responds to the players’ rhythm and needs. Elite athletes operate in a demanding environment where intense matches are combined with travel across multiple time zones, often resulting in jet lag and disruption to recovery patterns. By adapting the lighting to the activity and time of day, an environment is created that optimally supports focus, recovery and relaxation.
“Given our stay in Seattle, jet lag is an important factor in the context of the World Cup. We are therefore focusing on recovery and sleep quality, as biorhythm and sleep are crucial to minimising the negative impact of jet lag. In this context, Philips Hue supports the natural recovery process and promotes relaxation as well as sleep quality, which can ultimately have a positive impact on performances on the pitch,” concludes Steven Probst, Health & Performance Manager of the Belgian Red Devils.
Cooler lighting tones help players stay alert and focused during preparation and activation. Warmer tones, in turn, create a calmer atmosphere during recovery moments and treatments. It is also possible to simulate a sunrise and sunset using smart lighting, helping players wake up feeling more energised and unwind more easily after an intense day.
“Behind every performance lies an environment that helps players recover, focus, perform and relax. We are therefore particularly proud that Philips Hue can support the Belgian Red Devils during these crucial moments between matches. For Philips Hue, innovation is not only about technology, but also about its impact on well-being, focus and elite performance, both on and off the pitch,” concludes Dragoslav Jozic, Market Leader Consumer Benelux at Signify.
This same vision also applies at home, where light is playing an increasingly important role in how people live, relax, come together and share special moments. With solutions such as Philips Hue, Signify aims to let technology contribute naturally to atmosphere, experience and well-being at home. Ahead of the World Cup, Philips Hue also launched Hue Sports Live, a new experience within the Philips Hue app that allows smart lighting to react to key moments during a match.
Rangers confirm off-season stadium plans
Rangers have laid out their stadium preparations ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Ibrox playing surface is undergoing renovations to ensure it remains in pristine condition for the upcoming season.
The currently installed balustrades in the Copland Rear stand will be replaced by a glass design, enhancing the view of the pitch for supporters situated in that area.
Internal high level structure works will also be carried out in the Bill Struth Main Stand, consisting of the replacement of timbers and fixing covers, as well as the replacement of panels on the building façade.
The club are very busy on building compliance, working in conjunction with an electrical contractor to carry out inspection and testing of the listed Bill Struth Main Stand. These works began last September and are scheduled to be completed over the summer.
Inside the stadium, the Members Lounge is also set for refurbishment, with new booth seating set to be installed alongside LED lighting, new flooring and further decorative work.
Across the corridor, the club’s in-house facilities team are undertaking a revamp of the trophy room, in part funded by Club 1872, including the installation of new lighting and extensive decoration. Much of this work has already been completed and visitors to the stadium will notice the fresh look in this iconic area of our home.
Also as part of the Club 1872 heritage fund investment, the corridor between the Trophy Room and Members Lounge will also be enhanced with fresh photography, while French polishing will also be added to the wooden panelling inside the Main Stand rooms.
The stadium footprint will also undergo some changes as part of the project, with the John Greig Ibrox Disaster Memorial statue set to be rewaxed and restored through several touch ups.
In addition, the statue of the legendary Walter Smith will also be fitted with lighting, pending approval from Glasgow City Council, while painting restoration works inside the Blue Room are being discussed with artist Senga Murray.
A team of painters will also be in operation between Ibrox, Edmiston House, the Rangers Training Centre and the Ibrox Community Complex, freshening up several areas in preparation for the season ahead.

Work underway for Brisbane Olympic Stadium
The transformation of Victoria Park into the centrepiece for the Games, and world-class free public parkland, for 2032 and beyond has begun.
Preparatory earthworks are underway, following the Games Independent Infrastructure Coordination Authority (GIICA) officially taking possession of the site today.
The Premier and Deputy Premier joined Olympians and Paralympians, AFL and cricket champions and the next generation of Queensland’s sports stars and super fans to mark the major milestone.
The new 63,000 seat Brisbane Stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies and athletics at the 2032 Games before becoming the city’s main oval stadium and home ground for current AFL Premiers the Brisbane Lions, and cricket’s Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash, Queensland Bulls at interstate level, as well as an outstanding international cricket venue for Test, One Day and T20 matches.
Temporary fencing has been installed around the perimeter and there are some changes to traffic and transport routes.
While the North Brisbane Bikeway, York’s Hollow, Pump Track and some greenspace will remain open to the public, key changes for residents include the closure of Gilchrist Avenue for traffic and parking, and closure of access to the park from both the QUT and Herston bus stations.
On site traffic management and signage is in place to assist the transition, and additional closures of parts of the park will be required as construction progresses.
The new Brisbane Stadium is part of the $7.1 billion Games Venues Infrastructure Program jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government.
After years of delays and changing plans, the Games are back on track, with design work of Brisbane Stadium well underway following the appointment architects in January 2026, and the Federal Government providing environmental clearance last month.
The stadium’s main construction partners will be appointed within a matter of months, and the entire precinct’s draft masterplan will also be released soon.
The masterplan, being developed by world-renowned firm Arup, will shape a world-class recreation and lifestyle hub, connecting Brisbane Stadium, the National Aquatic Centre and Brisbane Athletes Village during the Games, and generational infrastructure for beyond 2032.
More than two thirds of Victoria Park will remain free green public space once works are complete, including York’s Hollow Pond, with work to date focusing on ensuring Victoria Park is accessible and functional for all users, whether you’re attending the Games, the footy or having a picnic.
Premier David Crisafulli said the start of early works at Victoria Park was a milestone moment for Queensland.
“It’s game on – we have a plan to deliver for the 2032 Games and beyond, and today, we get cracking on delivering it,” Premier Crisafulli said.
“The eyes of the world will be on us in 2032, but this is about delivering legacy benefits for all of Queensland well beyond that.
“Victoria Park will be the beating sport, cultural and green heart of Brisbane, and a place all Queenslanders can be proud of.”
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said the start of initial works on the new Brisbane Stadium was a historic day.
“The Games are back on track after 1,200 days of Labor chaos, with work underway to deliver incredible sport and event facilities and open green space, just over twelve months since the Crisafulli Government released its 2032 Delivery Plan,” Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
“While parts of the park now need to be closed, we’ve ensured sections can stay open while work is underway to transform the surrounding parkland into a vibrant, green and connected precinct.”
GIICA Chairman Stephen Conry AM said the team at the Games Infrastructure Authority couldn’t wait to get started on the build for the new Brisbane Stadium.
“This is an exciting day for GIICA and for all of Queensland as we get on site and begin our work at Victoria Park,” Mr Conry said.
“Queenslanders can be confident that GIICA will care for the park through the construction period, returning it to the people of Queensland in 2032 with an amazing new Stadium and National Aquatic Centre, alongside improved and more usable green space for many more people to enjoy rather than just the few, with improved accessibility and activations.”
Brisbane Lions Chief Executive Officer Sam Graham said the team was working closely with GIICA and other stakeholders to create a venue that all Queenslanders will be proud of.
“We’re really pleased with the progress being made to date. As we have seen in other cities across the county, new stadiums are generational assets, they shape cities, economies and communities and this will be a venue that is welcoming and accessible to everyone, for decades to come,” Mr Graham said.
“From a Lions point of view, there’s more kids kicking a Sherrin around Queensland than ever before, we’re about to set a new club membership record and we’re looking forward to welcoming a new generation of sports fans to Victoria Park when we call it home from 2033.”
Queensland Cricket Chief Executive Officer Terry Svenson said Brisbane Stadium will be a gamechanger for sport in Queensland.
“The anticipation of hosting major cricket events at the Stadium in the wake of a successful 2032 Games is captivating,” Mr Svenson said.
“We look forward to working with the Government, the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority and the Stadium designers for what lies ahead as the Victoria Park precinct plans continue to come to life.”

Adelaide Oval screens upgraded by Daktronics
Adelaide Oval is taking the live event experience to the next level with upgraded LED display technology. Located in the heart of South Australia, the premier venue partnered with Daktronics to replace and upgrade five existing displays with higher-resolution technology, delivering sharper visuals and stronger fan engagement throughout the stadium.
The previous Daktronics 15HD LED displays featured 15-millimeter pixel spacing and were replaced with new SMD technology featuring 10- and 8-millimeter pixel spacing. To say the resolution is improving is an understatement.
“Daktronics displays have performed brilliantly at Adelaide Oval for the past 12 years, and we are very proud to have upgraded these to a higher resolution that will perform for the next 10 years or more,” said Daktronics Regional Sales Manager Julian Miller. “The two 8-millimeter displays greet fans with bright, colorful content as they approach the entrance and can be clearly seen all the way into the venue from the street. The three 10-millimeter displays in-bowl provide replays, live content, scores, statistics and activations – adding to and enhancing match day experiences for all.
For fans and audiences, that means clearer replays, more vibrant content and a more immersive experience from entry points to in-bowl seating.
While the displays provide the visual experience and audience connection, the strength of the partnership behind them is crucial in completing the appropriate activation that benefits all parties involved.
Addressing this aspect of the project, Miller continued, “We’re extremely pleased to continue our long-standing display partnership with Adelaide Oval. We share the same desire to deliver a high-quality display that not only enhances fan experience but also provides the foundation for commercial partners to advertise their brands clearly across the venue during match days, events and on broadcast. Integrating new higher-resolution LED into existing locations allowed for enhanced displays to be delivered without impacting venue operations during the busy Summer season.”
By completing the project in stages, Adelaide Oval maintained its full event schedule without interruption, while gradually introducing enhanced visuals for fans. The result is a seamless upgrade that strengthens both the in-venue experience and the venue’s ability to deliver engaging, high-quality content for years to come.

Wi-Fi 7 infrastructure deployed at Oakland Arena
Vistance Networks, a global provider of intelligent network solutions, has announced that RUCKUS Networks™, alongside Fortis Solutions, has deployed a full Wi-Fi 7 network infrastructure modernisation at Oakland Arena. The deployment, which was completed in thirteen days, delivers a future‑ready connectivity experience for one of California’s premier concert venues.
The installation delivered a comprehensive, end‑to‑end transformation of the arena’s network, including the deployment of nearly 300 new RUCKUS® Hyper-Directional T670sn Wi‑Fi 7 access points, upgraded controllers, and a complete refresh of the routing and switching infrastructure. The project also incorporated RUCKUS® ICX® switches with multi‑gigabit and 10‑gigabit ports, creating a high‑performance wired backbone designed to support increasing data demands and future‑ready applications.
“The deployment delivered immediate impact for the venue; two back-to-back sold-out K‑pop concerts ran flawlessly, with 100% switch uptime and 8.22 terabytes of traffic handled over two days, without disruption,” said Bart Giordano, SVP and president, RUCKUS Networks. “Oakland Arena demonstrates what’s possible when purpose-built Wi‑Fi 7 solutions are paired with the right expertise - ten times faster speeds and zero downtime during a sold-out event. That’s the standard venues have come to expect.”
“While typical arena projects often take months, this implementation was completed in 13 days,” said Myron Duckens, CEO, Fortis Solutions. “To accelerate deployment and minimize disruption, Fortis Solutions’ patented Source of Truth automation tools were used to migrate legacy configurations into a RUCKUS‑compatible architecture. This approach reduces manual engineering effort and allows the arena to remain fully operational throughout the upgrade, demonstrating the efficiency of our solutions and the strength of RUCKUS’ enterprise‑grade Wi‑Fi platform solutions.”
By redesigning its network architecture with RUCKUS technology, Oakland Arena now delivers up to ten times faster connectivity while lowering infrastructure costs, simplifying operations, and significantly improving the efficiency of ongoing network management.
“Prior to the deployment of RUCKUS technology and Fortis’ network automation tools, the 19,500‑seat venue was operating on legacy infrastructure that lacked modern beamforming and MIMO capabilities—putting it at risk of high latency, buffering, and frequent disconnects during sold‑out events,” said Colby Tucker, Senior Director of Operations, Oakland Arena. “Today, the arena delivers a level of connectivity that rivals, and in many cases can outperform, newer venues, with superior coverage, capacity, and reliability even at peak demand.”
With the new Wi‑Fi 7 network infrastructure in place, ticketing, concessions, and food and beverage operations run on a high-performance network, enabling an uninterrupted service. Oakland Arena is positioned to meet the connectivity demands of the next decade—from high‑density live events to immersive fan experiences.
